NOTE: The 2004 Presidential Candidate's positions on "GUN CONTROL"

     "What is this "Gun Control" stuff all about, anyway, and why is it such a big deal for some on both sides of the issue?" This is a question casually asked by literally millions of unknowing, indifferent and apparently unconcerned Americans to whom those politicians pushing it disdainfully refer to as the "Uncommited Center" in public, but the "Plodding Herd" or the "Unwashed Masses" in private. They are referring to those gullible, air-headed souls who make their voting decisions based on who offers them something for nothing with the slickest slogan, dressed up with a nice but silly "feel good" sound bite. The Liberal Democrat politicians of the Left know that they can have the votes of many of these people in their pocket, including their own politically blind Yellow Dog Democrats, among other ways by making "Gun Control" sound "reasonable" and innocuous.
     Au Contrere. What a sad and disheartening shame, because most of our Founding Fathers and right-thinking people of today contend that our 2nd Amendment rights regarding firearms is the most important of all the 10 Amendments which make up our BILL OF RIGHTS, even more so some feel, than the First Amendment (the right of free speech, the right to peaceably assemble, freedom of the press, etc). The fact that the second position (high enough for me) was ultimately where it was when the final vote took place and the Constitution was ratified, was a matter of happenstance. The compelling reason and justification for this provision is clear and simple, easy to understand, and can readily be verified by the reading of the Amendment itself and the study of historical documents still in existence and housed in the Library of Congress in Washington, D. C. But we hardly ever hear of the concept behind it and the reason it was included, especially not from the Liberal Media.
     The reasoning and positions of each our Founding Fathers, as well as their statements and direct quotations on the subject can easily be discovered anew by a reading of the Federalist Papers, available for all to see and read. To paraphrase their unanimous vote to include the 2nd Amendment: The people must be guaranteed the right of keeping and bearing arms so as to assure that a tyrannical government will never be able to oppress them.
     That is the first, foremost, and for all their intents and purposes, the only justification they felt necessary for them to include this provision, and for doing so in such a prominent place in our Constitution. NOT for hunting purposes. Not to have a quickly callable force to defend the country such as the Minute Men or Militia. Not even for self-defense as important as that is. Those are all merely compelling secondary reasons. The truth of their reason for including this amendment can be verified by any with the interest to see for themselves, as stated above. Consider the following quotes:

If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."

     Those whose agenda it is to incrementally outlaw firearms and then to confiscate them are deathly afraid of the 2nd Amendment. But they are betting that the average citizen will never be interested enough in this question, much less take the time to look it up for themselves, until it is too late and we have lost our 2nd Amendment rights completely. In this they have been far too correct so far.
     Let us look at just exactly what the 2nd Amendment actually says, remembering that commas were used throughout the Constitution to delineate concepts and points:

* "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

    There it is plain and simple, yet the Liberals of the Leftist Democrat Party attempt to construe it to mean that only the "Militia" are to have arms, and "the people" are never to ever touch a firearm. A laughable position on its face, but it is their Socialist agenda to deny us our arms, and many gullible souls have fallen for this treasonous line of reasoning.

     What is the harm in a few sensible laws to regulate firearms and try to keep criminals from having them, many Democrats ask. To begin with those "few" laws now amount to over 20,000 firearms laws these "Liberals" have now gotten on the books, so many that not a living soul can interpret them or well understand them (just like the tax laws and that is just the way the Liberal politicians want it), and none of which laws have ever prevented a single criminal from having or getting a firearm, and which serve only to limit and hinder law-abiding citizens from enjoying their 2nd Amendment rights. Common sense tells reasonable, thinking people that honest citizens will do their best to obey these laws, but criminals NEVER will. Not now, not ever. Indeed that is their very nature. They are CRIMINALS. They will ALWAYS have their firearms and woe be unto us if they are ever the ONLY ones with them. But aside from that, the fact remains that without the exercise of our 2nd Amendment rights we will surely lose control of our government and therefore of our lives and our destiny. History has proven this over and over again.
     Defending the lives and property of ourselves, our loved ones, and our honest fellow citizens and neighbors pales in comparison to what will happen if we ever have our arms registered then confiscated. Remember that this is precisely what happened over a period of years in Russia, Germany, and now England and more recently in Australia where all firearms were taken up from the population. The bitter result we never hear about through the Leftist TV and Print Media. The increase in the crime rate in England has long since surpassed that of this country; and has approximately tripled in the last three years! English citizens cannot even defend themselves in their own homes without themselves being the ones prosecuted and sent to jail! Crime in jolly aulde England is now so bad that the Brits who can afford to do so are emigrating elsewhere by the tens of thousands every year. There are upwards of 75,000 who have fled to the small island of Cyprus alone! Australia is experiencing the same things and the politicians who foisted this on them claim embarrassment that they cannot explain the the resultant drastic and near precipitous rise in crime in Australia which is getting worse and worse. But now? They don't have to explain or justify their actions now. Do they? What can the people do after the fact anyway? It is too late for them! The next thing in both countries will be the increased mobilization of the Federal agencies at all levels, justified by the "need to control crime", to the point then that whatever individual or group of their Socialist Elite gains control of the government these will then wield unlimited and overwhelming power to do as they dang well please. It is just a matter of time, which may take years - or months, who knows.

The Leftists (shall we just call them what they are, Socialists, and be done with it?) in this country say, "such a thing would never happen in America". That is just what they want us to think, but the exact same thing happened during the duly elected administration of the Wiemar Republic in Germany. In 1936 Hitler was duly elected to high position in their parliament. Then out of fear of his Socialist thugs he was appointed a position just under their highest elected official, Von Hindenburg, to placate him. The next year he and his NAZI party instituted firearms registration which was efficiently carried out as only the Germans can do. Then in 1938 after Von Hindenberg died and Hitler ascended to Chancellor, he sent Heinrich Himmler and his Brown Shirts house to house with those registration forms and physically confiscated all privately held firearms, by the use of deadly force when necessary. (Remember that "NAZI" was an acronym for the National SOCIALIST Party - just a half-inch from a straight out Communist Party). After this the German people were powerless and had lost control of their government. What else could they do, but accept the arbitrary decrees of this heinous Socialist now metamorphosed into a sadistic Dictator, and make the best of it? The rest, as they say, is history. The German people did not think such a thing could ever happen either. But it did. And this very thing has repeated itself all down through the history of mankind. Will it happen here? Not unless we the people allow it in apathetic stupidity, just as the Germans did.

     The "benevolent" administration of the Romans over the Jews of Israel confiscated all their swords and shields and made the possession of them punishable by death, keeping the Jews under heel and from the control of their own lives and country, finally to disperse all over the world after Rome fell and the Muslims drove the Jews from their own land (see the Ottoman Empire), a situation which lasted for centuries, indeed until the Jews re-took their homeland from the Arabs in 1948. When the Socialists of Russia took over that country in 1917 it was only after private arms had been confiscated. Only after 72 years and the utter failure of Communism (only a half inch from Socialism), as evidenced by the collapse of their economy, have the Russians finally been able to defend themselves with privately held arms, worship as they please and have some say in their lives and in their governance. As noted earlier, it happened in Germany in 1938 and look at what became of the German people (much less to the Jews and the rest of the world) as a result. Correct figures are not at hand, but upwards of 8 million German Jews (not counting those of the all the other countries overrun by the Nazis) were gassed, 16 million Russians were killed in WWII (and Communist Dictator Joseph Stalin had already more put to death than were killed during the war), and this not to mention all the resulting deaths of the English, the Americans, and millions of others the world over.
     And need we chronicle yet again the primary reason the Socialists were able to enslave the Russian people in 1917 for the next 72 years? Privately held firearms were made illegal for those people to possess and therefore they had no means to protect themselves and their families from the Bolshevic Socialist's atrocities and takeover. Yes, under the Czars things were not good, but they went from the frying pan into the fires of Socialism (again, just a whisker away from Communism). I am told that the Russians can now, since the fall of the USSR in 1989 and for the first time in over 72 years (since the Socialist Bolshevic Revolution of 1917), purchase one or more of the multi-millions of their venerable SKS rifles for the equivalent of a mere $7.50 each. The paranoid Communists have had huge numbers of them in storage in underground bunkers for the last 40 years or so. Socialism will be hard-pressed to come to the Russian people again, now that they have tasted individual freedom once more and can again keep and bear arms!
     The bottom line? Only after a people have been disarmed can they be subdued and tyrannized. Our Founding Fathers knew this well. They had recently experienced just such as this in Europe. They well knew what they had to do to prevent a repeat of history, and they did it with our 2nd Amendment. Now the Liberals (aka Socialists) in this country are seeking to undo it. We cannot, we must not let them. Honest, law-abiding, patriotic Americans must vote them out of office!
     Over and over, credible and verifiable statistics have proven that stringent "Gun Control" laws do not serve to reduce crime (the false "justification" of the Leftist Democrats), but indeed causes the crime rate to increase as verified by the carefully researched, verified and accredited work of University of Chicago professor Dr. John R.      In a reaction to the Liberal Democrat's so-called 1994 "Assault Rifle Ban," citizens of more than 30 states have now caused the passage of some sort of Concealed Carry legislation, some very good, some not as good. But the stark fact which the Media never reports is that in every case of the implementation of a broad Concealed Carry law, the crime rate in that state has declined.
     A spate of lawlessness and car-jackings, especially in Florida, sprang up during the Clinton years after this Gun Ban was passed. It was so bad and it so damaged their tourism to the extent they passed a very broad Concealed Carry law.   The crime rate plunged almost immediately. It dropped more than 30% the first year and 50% the next year, and it has steadily dropped each year to a new low today. You will not hear about this in the biased National News, nor that the State of Florida will also issue anyone from any other state a Florida Concealed Carry license by mail, as long as they hold a valid license from their home state.

     Now let us examine this infamous and so-called 1994 "Assault" Weapons Ban passed by the Democrat congress under Bill Clinton. This was a firearms scam pure and simple, knowingly and intentionally perpetrated on the American people by the Liberal Democrats, and it passed only due to their majority and the ignorance of most people as to what was being banned, and the indifference of others to it.

     The Socialist "Gun Control" Democrats and all their special interest backers however, knew very well what the game was. Since there is no definition of just what an "assault" weapon is, they covertly and successfully made it into a Semi-Automatic Rifle Ban (which has nothing to do with "assault" at all), which was their intention all along.   "This is to be the Camel's nose under the tent. Our goal is to ban them all.", were the words of Sarah Brady, Josh Sugarman and other Liberal Democrats who head the foremost "Gun Control" organizations in the country, (and so publicly admitted to by certain ones). These quotes and pronouncements are suppressed or minimized by the Media. What they meant of course was that this Gun Ban was to be the first step towards Firearms Registration (strictly against not only the Constitution but also the law since 1934), followed by a total Gun Ban, quickly followed by confiscation of all private firearms. They have brazenly admitted this to be their goal. Enough Americans finally woke up to this Socialist "Gun Grab" of the Democrats in the congress they controlled under Bill Clinton it seems, especially after it passed this Gun Ban, to the extent it caused many Liberal Democrats to be sent packing in 1996, and is part and parcel why the Republicans now hold a majority.
     But back to the Democrat Gun Ban of 1994. The military view, (if there is one, all weapons are "assault" weapons to them) is that such a weapon must fire fully automatically (fires all rounds in the magazine until the trigger is released). The rifles which were banned do not do this, they fire semi-automatically (one shot for every pull of the trigger). Yet this fact was suppressed by the Democrats and never brought out for public debate. Instead we were led to believe it was fully automatic rifles that were to be banned. In fact fully automatic rifles have been illegal since 1934 without special application, a detailed, in depth background check, and the required $200 tax paid to the IRS - and no NEW such rifles have been made or sold except to the government or on special application by law-enforcement agencies since that time!   None of these facts were reported at the time, and attempts to bring them out seldom made it out of the legislative chambers controlled by the Democrats. I might note here that no fully automatic rifle of the thousands privately owned have ever been used in the commission of a crime except for only once, and that was of a minor nature.
     So these Socialist Democrat Gun Banners had no leg to stand on and still don't. But all of a sudden rifles which operated exactly the same as some of our hunting rifles have done since before the turn of last century (1893) were banned! And for no other reason other than how they might "look"!   Rifles with grips that stuck down were suddenly criminal to own. Surplus rifles having bayonet lugs were illegal! (When was the last time you heard of someone being bayoneted to death?). Flash suppressors could cause fines and imprisonment. Utter nonsense!   There is no difference in the way an AK47 sold in America or a Colt AR15 rifle operates, than any other semi-automatic rifle sold and used in this country for over 100 years! They are ALL Semi-Automatic rifles! Pistol grips, flash hiders, bayonet lugs and the like have nothing whatsoever to do with anything! These Liberal Democrats well knew all of this. "But they have high capacity magazines and can fire too many shots," they cried. It has ALWAYS been so, and so what? A multi-round magazine can (and have) been fitted or adapted if desired, to any pistol or rifle ever made and this too has always been so, well they knew. Nothing had changed except they then had the power, and so they BANNED more than 94 makes and models of our rifles we had been using without regulation for decades!
     There was no new or different situation that needed addressing but using lies,, deception, and meaningless cosmetic appearances (like pistol grips), an ignorant, apathetic public bought this "Gun Control" nonsense. First demonizing then banning a whole category of our long used firearms was their underhanded agenda all along, followed by confiscation. "Crime control" had nothing whatsoever to do with their motives, such did not occur (indeed facts show that crime increased significantly because criminals felt safer and freer). But that was never their goal, just the contrived excuse for their next step in banning then confiscating all our firearms. This Gun Ban was sold to the gullible public with the help of the Leftist News Media. The Democrat-dominated Media (92% by their own admission) made certain features seem "ugly", and "ugly" to equate with criminality. How utterly asinine. But the public at large never realized or were aware of this, nor sadly, did some care.

But for the efforts of a relative handful of 2nd Amendment activists and organizations like the National Rifle Association, Gun Owners of America, and the Firearms Coalition, the larger public would still have no knowledge of what is afoot as we speak, and they still have no idea of what was actually banned or the real purpose behind this shameful law in 1994.
     So at the least, let us get the true name of this so-called 1994 "Assault" Weapons Ban corrected in our minds. It was a Semi-Automatic Rifle ban with a total gun ban followed by confiscation as its ultimate goal, pure and simple. It should have been repealed and tossed in the trash where it belongs after Republicans took control in 1994, but the Democrats in the Senate stopped the effort. One of the main authors of this onerous law which runs directly contrary to the Constitution, was Dianne Feinstein, Liberal Democrat of California, who said the ultimate goal was to in effect; "Ban all firearms! Confiscate them all!" She is still running away from those pronouncements of hers, but she and her Liberal Democrat cohorts such as Charles Schumer, Harry Reid, John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi and Ted Kennedy (the Chappaquidick Kid) until his long hoped for death, certainly have not given up finding other underhanded ways to take our firearms away from us.
      Let us remember that "By their fruits shall ye know them." Remembering what happened in Russia, we know that the primary ways to identify Socialists (Liberals) the world over, other than by their voting record, is by the basic tenets of their ideology which dictate that to the utmost extent they can, they must seek the power to subject and regulate the peoples' lives by taking over or monopolizing the government in the following main ways:
     (1) By including in their primary goals the removal of all firearms from the populace so that the only ones with arms are the governmental agencies,
     (2) By, as in the case of the U. S., working to demonize Christianity and to remove all aspects and symbols of God and religion from our Founding Documents, from all our public places, from our schools, and from every aspect of our society, and to facilitate free sex and population control by promoting the murder of babies through abortion (Socialists are avowed atheists remember).
     (3) By working untiringly to institute and control a big, central, all-powerful, omnipresent Socialist government and all its functions, while claiming the "greater good for the biggest "groups" - (as opposed to the following observations:):

     (4) By Socialism's "redistribution of wealth" which is a bedrock tenet involving high taxation and confiscatory levies especially on "the rich" to the utmost extent the public will tolerate, then using it to dispense to malingering malcontents in the guise of "public assistance" (welfare dole) in return for their votes to keep them in power,
     (5) By absolute control of the public schools including not only their perverted versions of what is taught but the promotion of promiscuous sex and decadent (gay) lifestyles, stifling incentive and creativeness by their use of "equal outcomes" (all are given good grades and promoted whether they have learned anything or not) - by the prohibiting of prayer or anything religious in nature (except for religions other than Christianity, including Islam, to which we are to be "tolerant").
     (6) By catering to the labor unions for their money and votes under the guise of their patent lie of being "for the working man",
     (7) By using the movie and entertainment industry for the advancement of their decadent agenda through those influential mediums,
     (8) By taking over the institutions of higher education (virtually now complete) for the same reasons, and the most obvious of all,
     (9) By controlling the print and electronic News Media so as to advance their agenda unopposed while suppressing traditional family values, patriotism, and religion and to otherwise manipulate the vote so as to elect their Leftist politicians, and
     (10) By promoting the breakdown of the family (to replace it with the State) by the use of welfare payments, and working to destroy the traditional, age-old family institution of the marriage of one man to one woman, (they are currently promoting gay marriage so as to undermine the very fabric of our society), and
     (11) By keeping the myth of "racism" and the long-past issue of "slavery" alive and encouraging feelings of "victimization" among blacks for the purpose of slicking them out of their vote (it's working nicely isn't it?).

     There are others, and space does not allow a full accounting here. But we as a people are forced to ask ourselves; which party has for years, and is still promoting all of the governmental travesties at variance with our Constitution, along with the the cultural decadence afflicting our country? Which party has brought us to this sad and dangerous place in our heretofore glorious history? The voting records tell the tale, along with the basic tenets of Socialism as they are applying them to America as listed above, ...and it is certainly not the Republican Party, though there are some Socialists in that party as well - the difference being that they refer to themselves as "Moderates" so that gullible Republicans will take a grain of salt and re-elect them.
     It is all a sad situation and it has to be pointed out here that except for the Fox News Channel and the (*) National Weekly Edition (see below) of the Washington Times newspaper, the American people would have nothing but selected, slanted, biased, Socialist views and news available to them - and I sometimes wonder even about the "Fair and Balanced" news channel. The Internet presents many opportunities for getting accurate news and for Conservatives to interact with each other, even though the other side has those same opportunities.

     Now in conclusion let me make bold and say right out what most of the political astute already know but some, such as Yellow Dog Democrats, appear to be apathetically unaware, that the Liberals (their Sunday word for Socialists) have long since taken over the once honorable Democrat Party. It is no longer the party I once belonged to. They left me, I did not leave them. If they were not so bad for our country and its future, I would say that I feel sorry them. It is so sad that so many otherwise good, decent people are still being made fools and dupes by the Socialists who have grabbed the reigns of that party, and who by their own blind, dogmatic refusal to open their eyes and minds to common sense, reason, straight facts and truth, continue to be led astray by the Socialist ring in their nose. Zell Miller of Georgia is one former Yellow Dog Democrat who has finally seen through the fallacy of remaining blindly loyal to the Democrat Party just because his ancestors were, or because of some single particular issue, such as Unionism. When the rats take over, its time to jump ship (or change donkeys).

Rest In Peace "Assault" Weapons Ban! Goodbye and GOOD RIDDANCE! This onerous and ridiculous law that banned many semi-automatic rifles, some having been with us since 1893, has just disappeared with the sunset. It expired a few days ago, ten years after the Democrat Majority in Congress passed it and Bill Klinton signed it, leaving the Anti-2nd Amendment Democrat Gun-Grabbers crying in the weeds, especially because this law directly enabled the Republican's to recover the majority in Congress as Slick Willie himself has admitted. We have not heard the last of this gun ban or the "Gun Control" nonsense from the Liberal Democrats. They will no doubt try to reinstate it and other bans at earliest opportunity, but until that fight takes up again, let all honest law-abiding American citizens REJOICE!

Costing little more than a dollar a week - only $59.95 for a full year, this excellent newspaper is a weekly compendium of all the major World, National, and State news and articles which have appeared that week in their daily papers - arguably the nations' foremost newspaper of record. The paper is editorially Conservative, but its articles are not biased, selective or slanted, giving ALL the news ALL the time, without agenda. When I was introduced to this paper some years ago, I cancelled 6 magazine subscriptions and 2 newspapers because I received far more true and unbiased information in it than all the rest.

THE 2004 PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE POSITIONS ON "GUN CONTROL" and the 2ND AMENDMENT...and on KERRY'S "WAR RECORD":

* JOHN KERRY:

     As observed in the April, 2004 newsletter of the FIREARMS COALITION by Neal Knox:
     "...that's another reason why I'm emphasizing the need to defeat Kerry eight months before the election - writing about his anti-gun record (which exactly matches his mentor Sen. Edward Kennedy), scoffing about his claim to "support the 2nd Amendment as it has been interpreted" just after his March 2 vote to ban all deer-hunting cartridges...."
     Since then John Kerry has claimed he would never vote to ban popular rifle ammunition but that is exactly what he did! All four of the most popular rifle ammunition was included TO BE BANNED in Sen. Kennedy's amendment No. 2619 to S1805, and all four were named during the debate (the .30-30 Winchester, the .308 Winchester (7.62 NATO), the .223 Remington, and the 30-06).   Kerry's statement claiming to "support the 2nd Amendment as it has been interpreted" says it all. So do his Democrat cohorts Anti-gunners Charles Schumer, Dianne Feinstein, Sarah Brady and Edward Kennedy who have openly adopted the "interpretation" that only the "militia" is to have firearms, and that they should be taken away from honest law-abiding American citizens - a Liberal (Socialist) position pure and simple.
     The bottom line is obvious: a Kerry presidency would see our 2nd Amendment legislated out of existence.

George Bush's position on our 2nd Amendment is simple and straightforward. It has been open and obvious for as long as he has been in public life that he believes in and and he has affirmed many times his unwavering support for the "RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS." His bottom line is also obvious: George Bush will assure that our 2nd Amendment rights will continue to be respected. AND BY THE WAY, serving in the National Guard as and accomplished Fighter Pilot on call at a moment's notice was far more honorable than the so-called "war record" of John Kerry, the very same John Kerry who was honored by the Communist Viet Nam Regime as a "Communist Hero" after the war, with his picture hung in their War Museum for his libelous testimony in congress against our soldiers and for his notorious efforts to undermine our country as an anti-war demonstrator alongside "Hanoi Jane" Fonda.
