MUSIC! MUSIC! MUSIC!

NOTE:    The music we have embedded in this and some of the pages of our site is "Far Away", an original piano composition by Yuko Ohigashi who also arranged and performed it.  Yuko is now an 18 year old girl, born in Japan with an amazing natural talent for playing the piano and composing music.  She has studied in America at Interlochen Arts Academy, and graduated in 2005.  Yuko is currently continuing her studies in New York.  She composed "far Away" at the amazingly tender age of 13, yet it bespeaks a maturity far beyond those years.  To me this is one of those rare pieces that can be listened to in the background for very long periods without it becoming tedious.  It is "mood" music par excellence.  Let us know what you think of it, and whether you think the music on our site  should be changed periodically.
Let us recommend visiting Yuko at her music site, where you can get this piece of music and see more photos of this fine girl.  She has fabulous, reasonably priced CD's available, and you see a current picture of her and read her amazing story while there.  I hope someday to meet this gifted girl, who I know will eventually become an even more prominent name in the world of music than she is now.

                         Yuko's site is at http://www.yukopiano.com

ABOUT THE TUNES ON THIS SITE:  These are MIDI files of  tunes that were popular hits originally, and all were chosen for their quality and faithful effort to render them as close to the original as possible.  We list them by title mostly, but some we cannot remember or make out from the file names (you'll see which ones).  They are GREAT we think, and we hope you enjoy them!  To our knowledge none of these come under the purview of the present and ongoing flap over "piracy", and to that extent you are welcome to download those you like.  Otherwise, if any infringement  occurs it is unintentional, and we will immediately remove any offending item upon notification.

"The aim and final goal of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.  If heed is not paid to this, it is not true music but a diabolical bawling and twanging."

                                                                                                                      ...Johann Sebastian Bach

A get well wish for a very nice guy...

Before we get to our music offerings (and at risk of you not coming back) I want to refer you to one of the very best, most beautiful, relaxing, popular and uplifting sites on the Web, and introduce you to the fine man who created it.   He has nothing but love in his heart for his fellow man and lives just to bring us his wonderful site, but he is now struggling.  Frank "Cal" Hendrix is a 65 year old disabled veteran, living alone and only on his SS disability.  He lost his wife some years ago, has had much trouble with his old wounds, and now his eyes have about failed him.  Friends are having to take him to Atlanta to Emory hospital regularly, and help with expenses.  Let's remember this hero in our prayers and if you enjoy his site you might consider sending him  a buck or two in any case, because as much as he hates to, he is now forced to accept some help to keep the site online.  It appears to me that his effort to bring us this award-winning site is his whole life:

Sons of Confederate Veterans:     To Arms!

Forrest's Escort
  -  Camp 1239
                                      Villa Rica, Georgia

                                  Website:   http://www.forrestsescort.org/dispatch/

Not being aware that anyone anywhere, with a verifiable blood relation to a Confederate Soldier from the West Georgia area could join the fine organization above, I recently discovered this fact and joined.  Although I live in Tennessee, thanks to the recruitment of my old friend and schoolmate Charles Lott who is the Commander of this unit, I have now returned in spirit to my roots in this area, an area which cradled my relatives on both my mothers' (Brock), and fathers' (Miller), and which now holds so many in their graves.  My Great Great Grandfather on my mothers' side was James Daniel Brock who was killed at the Battle of Cold Harbor in 1863, and there are many other Brocks as well as Millers who fought for the Confederacy.  I have signed the roster and shouldered arms once again with my kinfolk in the on-going fight to preserve for posterity, our proud Southern Heritage.  And it feels good to have done so.  It is the same feeling felt those many years ago as our ancestors rallied 'round the Bonnie Blue flag in the common cause of freedom, to fight a just war against tyranny, oppression, and finally, invasion.  I will report to all musters I am able to.

If any reading this can trace their Confederate roots back to anywhere around this large nebulous area known as West Georgia, you are also encouraged to join us in this unit, no matter where in the country you now live, North or South.

Even more than this, it is important to note that any such man with Confederate roots can find an active unit which covers his home area anywhere in the South and Southwest -  and you are encouraged to seek it out and join up now.  If you have any trouble finding your unit, you can contact any Sons of Confederate Veteran's organization for some quick help.  The Website with contact information for this unit is shown above.  They (or I) stand ready to help - you have but to contact us.
