This is the cover of Book 1 - the other 2 are similar.
Although I have given a general overview of these 3
big books under the GENEALOGY and the OUR
FAMILIES pages, I will go further in depth here by showing
you the Dedication Page and
Table of Contents. As I said, I've been taking lots of trips and
making lots of phone calls on the genealogy stuff, and have completed this
extensive work which includes over 1000 pages. They cover the Brock,
Matthews, Mote, Evans, Hendrix, Blackmon and other families. These books are
more or less complete and have been now been distributed gratis to the surviving
root family Patriarchs and Matriarchs of my extended Brock
family, those who I know, except for Book 3 which is still a little thin as to the Wm
H. "Horry" Brock wing, and I still need help here from them. Otherwise these
books are chock full of many many old photos, copies of memorabilia such as
letters, wills, etc., other scanned items of interest, poems and articles by our
ancestors, and other scanned physical items of memorabilia from several family
sources, along with genealogies by other family members which were scanned and
included in addition to scanned copies of
Civil War
(I detest that misnomer)
letters written home by my Great Great Grandfather
James Daniel Brock before he was killed near Richmond, Virginia, along with his
picture as well (he was a handsome devil! - see his picture below). As you
know, from James and his wife "Fannie" flowed the two wings of the family that
we of West Georgia roots are most familiar with; their sons James Robert "Bob" Brock,
my Great Grandfather, and William H. "Horry" Brock.
All this material was loaned to me to bring back
home to Tennessee, scan into my computer hard drive and then to return, all of
which has now been accomplished. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all my beloved
Brock kinfolk who contributed and helped me assemble this work (they are each
acknowledged in the forewords of the books), which to this point I believe to be
by far the most comprehensive such assemblage extant. However, I breathlessly
await the work that Earline Powers and Bill Johnson
(both direct Brock/Matthews decendents) are promising to come out with, since
unlike me and my itchey-foot wanderings, they have always lived in the West
Georgia area and were intimately closer to our kinfolk. And also because they
have both been collecting up pearls of family information for many years, as
well as physical items (for instance Bill now even owns the last house Grandma
Drucilla lived in as well as other Brock property), so theirs will contain by
far the most valuable and comprehensive in depth information I am absolutely
certain, and will be more of a true work of Genealogy. Indeed, they have both even been to Ireland
and Whales several times researching our Brock and
Matthews roots.
So hurry up you two!!

The WRITER'S BIOGRAPHY.......................................(inside
the back cover)
A word from the writer:
For several reasons as you
will see in reading this book, I came late into the full fellowship of my dear
extended Brock family, then spent forty and more years off in Texas and other
states. But I have spent recent times trying in small measure to make up for it,
to re-connect and visit with my surviving Brock kinfolk, and to fill in where
there are gaps in my family knowledge and experience. This book is one result.
I have not words to
adequately express the pride and admiration I feel for each and every one of
you. Please accept this book with my love and esteem, and as my remembrance to
you of my precious Brock mother Mary Montez (Brock) Miller - and of all those
other of our beloved kinfolk who have gone before us.
With Love,
Emil T. Miller (Tony)
